Biography
Naguib Mahfouz (1911-2006) was an Egyptian writer who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1988. Born in Cairo, he wrote 34 novels, 350 short stories, and numerous screenplays. His Cairo Trilogy ('Palace Walk,' 'Palace of Desire,' 'Sugar Street') is considered one of the greatest works of Arabic literature. He is the most translated Arabic-language author.
