Biography
Fakhar Zaman is a Pakistani opening batsman famous for his explosive strokeplay and his match-winning performances in big finals. Born on 10 April 1990 in Mardan, he was a navy officer before a remarkable late-blooming career in cricket.
Career
Fakhar made his international debut in 2017 and immediately made history: in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy against India, he scored a brilliant 114 to lead Pakistan to a stunning victory, earning the man-of-the-match award in what is regarded as one of the great World final performances. In 2018 he became the first Pakistani to score an ODI double century, smashing 210 not out against Zimbabwe.
He has been a regular at the top of Pakistan's order in ODIs, with a strike rate that makes him one of the most dangerous openers in the game. He played a key role in Pakistan's 2023 World Cup campaign, including a century against New Zealand, and he was part of the 2024 T20 World Cup squad.
